The upcoming Google Nexus S, which has been the source of many a rumour over the last couple of weeks, has been given yet more coverage online after leaked specs and info was made public.

Google-Nexus-SThe four inch touchscreen display is thought to be based on Super AMOLED 2 technology, which will outpace even the original Super AMOLED screen of the Samsung Galaxy S, offering even better contrast levels and nippier performance.

The hardware specs are coming into focus gradually, although the rumours of a dual core processor have not been verified and different sources quote the RAM allocation as being between 328MB and 512MB, which shows that only an official announcement can clear things up completely.

Samsung, which is thought to be behind the development of the Nexus S in partnership with Google, packed either 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage onto the Galaxy S, but rumours from XDA Developers Forum, suggest that this upcoming phone could have a meagre 1GB onboard, which would make purchasing a microSD memory card a requirement for most users.

Android Gingerbread 2.3 is expected to be the platform of choice for the Nexus S when it touches down, but Google and Samsung will have to kick things in motion with an official launch before further details emerge.
