Although Samsung has yet to officially announce the Galaxy Ace smartphone, its Indonesian operation erroneously launched a web page featuring details about the handset this week.

The Galaxy Ace is set to enter the market roughly in the middle, providing Android 2.2 thrills for those who do not want to shell out for a top of the line smartphone.

With a 3.5 inch touchscreen display, an 800MHz processor and a five megapixel camera, its specs are suitably healthy, even if it is likely to be a budget option.

Judging from the pictures which were temporarily available on the website, it will look very similar to the original Samsung Galaxy S, which, in turn, had a definite feel of the iPhone 3G S about it.

Samsung is likely to skin Android 2.2 with its own TouchWiz interface and it is also adding Swype typing technology to save on keypad tapping, although this is still catching on rather than a must-have feature.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is set to be revealed at Mobile World Congress next month, but with all this information on specs and capabilities leaked via an official channel, there are not likely to be any more surprises.
