Samsung Galaxy S2?

Samsung is hoping that improvements to AMOLED screens will allow its future mobile phones to sport displays that are superior to the high resolution Retina Display of the Apple iPhone 4.

Although the iPhone 4 has a smaller screen than the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S and its contrast levels cannot hope to match those of AMOLED technology, the Retina Display has a much higher pixel density which results in a crisper, cleaner look to text, images and onscreen video.

With Super AMOLED Plus technology, Samsung will be able to sneak closer to the Retina Display’s 326ppi (pixels per inch) and although the manufacturer has yet to reveal the exact specifications of these screens, it is likely that the ppi will be over 300, according to TechRadar.

It is thought that the Galaxy S2 will be Samsung’s first handset to get a Super AMOLED Plus display. It will be making its debut at the Mobile World Congress event next month. Hopefully there will be many more mobiles with this advanced technology in the near future and Samsung is looking to be the main supplier for Super AMOLED Plus screens.
