    Dual core power

Smartphone fans will be pleased to hear that news from Sweden suggests that the LG Optimus 2X will be arriving in the same price bracket as its high end rivals when it launches early next year.

The LG Optimus 2X is set to sport a dual-core processor, making it a uniquely powerful addition to the market. If current reports from Swedish retailer CDon are to be believed the pre-order price for a SIM free Optimus 2X will be around £470.

This figure has been arrived at because the firm put a 555 Euro tag on the phone and, as such, it is difficult to judge whether this will be directly converted into pounds sterling for the UK launch.

If the LG Optimus 2X does hit stores in the UK at this price point, it will be well placed to take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S and HTC HD2, two smartphones which are also based on the Android operating system.

It outclasses its major rivals in terms of specs, but sheer processing power will not make it a great phone, so it will be up to LG to ensure that the implementation of the software is bang on the money.
