HTC 7 Pro on it's way

HTC is going to launch both the 7 Pro and Gratia smartphones in the UK next month and the Taiwanese manufacturer officially confirmed these plans this week.

The HTC 7 Pro was originally destined to be a launch handset for the Windows Phone 7 platform but delays shifted it into 2011 and it could be a big hit thanks to its full slide-out QWERTY keypad.

The HTC Gratia is based on Android rather than Microsoft’s platform and it runs version 2.2 of the software. It is a midrange handset with solid specs, including a 3.2 inch display and a five megapixel camera, so it should find an audience in a relatively busy segment of the market.

So far no UK network provider has announced that it will be offering either of these handsets on a pay monthly tariff, so early adopters will need to pick them up SIM free when they arrive in February.

However, it would be surprising if no operator jumped onboard with HTC shortly after the launch, so if you are holding out for a free handset you may not have that long to wait until you are satisfied.
