Rumours suggest that a Taiwanese mobile manufacturer is going to spread its wings and enter the increasingly busy tablet market with a device called the Scribe.

Like its high end smartphones including the Desire HD, the HTC Scribe is likely to run the Android operating system, according to Bloomberg, which would allow it to compete with rival tablet devices from Motorola and LG.

This news has come as a result of the manufacturer making a move and copywriting the ‘HTC Scribe’ moniker, to make sure that it has first dibs when it comes to launch the device.

Some suggest that the HTC Scribe will be making an appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week, although it is more likely that it will land alongside new smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in February.

The HTC Scribe could be available in the UK as soon as April and it would give users an alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It could also benefit from an appealing price point which is a little lower than the competition, although observers are waiting for an official announcement from HTC in order to get further juicy details.
