LG BLG has been in the news regularly over the past couple of weeks. First for the dual-core splendour of the Optimus X2 and now for a new prototype smartphone, known simply as the LG B and thought to be less thick than Apple’s respectably slim iPhone 4.

Limited information is known about the LG B, although it is thought that it will run a current version of Android and have a four inch display, according to details acquired by Phandroid.

Apple has been making much of the fact that the iPhone 4 is the thinnest smartphone in the world, but LG could soon wipe the smile from its face, if these leaks turn out to be verifiable rather than wishful thinking.

The LG B appeared alongside the specs of other mysterious screen technologies in a table which appears to compare it directly to the Samsung Galaxy S and Apple iPhone 4. What is clear from the table, is that its display will be significantly brighter than these two major rivals.

LG tweeted to confirm the existence of the B smartphone and said that it will make its debut at CES 2011 next month, although this tweet was quickly removed, implying an internal slipup.
